The Fetal Medicine Foundation has made a major donation for the development and equipment of a specialist fetal medicine centre at Southend University Hospital.

The new centre, which opened in 2015, aims to provide a high level of care for pregnant women and their unborn babies. The new centre is actively involved in research into pregnancy complications and in the training of doctors in fetal medicine. The doctors working in the unit are rotating into the fetal medicine unit at King’s College Hospital, London.
